Alaie sat on the window sill, playing with her necklace. She reached up and unhooked it from her neck, holding it in her hand. It was rectangular, the picture of a flower carved into it. It was a trick necklace. If you turned it the right way, it would turn into a heart. And then you could open it. That's what she did right now. Inside it was a picture of a young boy. He had messy, long, brown hair, dark blue eyes, and was dressed in blood-red Durmstrang robes. That was her best friend.
When she was much much younger, she'd had a silly crush on him. He'd been her "boyfriend". Now he was just her best friend..
She smiled at a memory, and closed the necklace, turning it back into it's original shape, and hooking it around her neck. She reached for her bag and took out a quill, two sheets of parchment, and her Muggle Studies book, to lean on. She enchanted her quill to write whatever she said. She had tried to make it write her thoughts before. No luck there, yet.
When the two letters where finished, she signed each with her signature, folded, and enveloped them, choosing two different owls to deliver them. One owl was a milky white, and the other was dark brown..Just for variety. She let them both out of the window, and started to gather up her things.
One of them had been for Hunter, her best friend. He'd invited her to spend her next vacation with him and his parents. The other letter had been to her parents. To inform them that she'd said yes.
She smiled quietly and reached for the Muggle Studies book, to put it into her bag. But the writing on the back caught her eye. 'Hmm..' She muttered, and left the book out on the window sill while she closed up her bag. She swung it over her shoulder, and took the book, opening it up on the first page, as she walked out of the Owlery.
